Sales Account Manager
Position: Sales Account Manager
Reports to: Sales Group Leader
Sales Account Manager Job Description:

To generate individual sales to meet or exceed the annual specified sales target value established for the Sales Engineer.   The applicant must have 3 years experience selling custom automated assembly and test equipment.  Preference will be given to candidates who have recent sales experience selling automated systems in one or more of the following segments:

  1. Automotive
  2. Medical Devices
  3. Electric Vehicle
  4. Electronic Modules/Assemblies

Sales Account Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works co-operatively with customers, fellow employees, contractors and management
  • Completes all tasks in a neat and timely fashion
  • Provides updates to the progress of projects, solutions and corrective actions as required and follow-up with weekly production meeting requirements in a timely manner
  • Acts as a liaison between plant personnel, and related customers
  • Assists associates with verifying their judgement of intent for projects from quote stage to production
  • Occasional travel as required globally
  • Strong Communication Skills with the ability to actively listen to ideas and concerns of others and analyze all information
  • Act as a leader with the ability to delegate responsibilities appropriately

Essential Sales Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve profitable sales target
  • Sales target will increase a minimum of 5% annually.
  • The annual sales targets will be achieved by meeting each of the quarterly sales targets equal to 25% of yearly sales target )
  • These targets are to be achieved through existing active employer clients
  • These sales targets are to be achieved through existing active employer clients, reviving dormant employer accounts and prospecting and developing new clients.
  • As the employer receives requests from new clients on a regular basis, these leads will be distributed throughout the sales department.
  • Procures orders based on quoted projects.  (Average quoted sales revenue is expected to be approximately 4:1 yearly revenue sold)
  • Develops new customers and automation markets.
  • Multi night travel and travel to customers and potential customers within Canada.
  • Multi night travel and travel to customers and potential customers outside of Canada.
  • Maintain at least 6-10 active repeat customers that will contribute to sales revenue
  • Establish 1 ( minimum ) new client visit to Innovative every month
  • Maintains relationships with client and client management.

Essential Quoting Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Discusses automation projects with existing and new customers.
  • Travels to customer facilities for new project discussion and presentations.  Average 6-8 days per month on the road establishing contacts with new and existing customers.  Concepts solutions to automation requirements.
  • Prepares or supports the preparation of sales concept drawings, using Solidworks and/or AutoCad, as required.
  • Prepares or supports the preparation of sales schedules, using MS Project and/or MS Excel, as required.
  • Prepares or supports the preparation of sales sequence/cycle time charts, using MS Excel, as required.
  • Prepares quotation pricing spreadsheet using MS Excel, with input from others as required.
  • Performs due diligence of quote pricing using historical data from previous job costing and/or purchased item pricing.
  • Prepares typed quotations for customers using MS Word Documents.
  • Submits quotation documents to customer in hardcopy and/or PDF.

Essential Administration Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend Weekly Sales Meetings to discuss with the sales manager/owner and other Sales Account Managers the status of quoted jobs and strategies for closing and other opportunities.
  •  Maintain sales forecast of probable and imminent jobs.
  • Discussions with sales manager/owner or management prior to quoting on jobs to determine viability of quoting as well as discussions relating to concepts and previous similar jobs.
  • Participate in bi-annual, one-on-one reviews with sales manager to discuss targets and sales progress.
  • Participate in analysis of closed jobs for identifying areas of concern and areas of excellence.
  • Follows Sales Department ISO procedures.
  • Generate required ISO documents and organize launch meetings for new projects.

Essential Project Management Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with management, fellow staff and customers with respect to any project concerns, project status, and possible area solutions.
  • Liaison between customers and employer personnel.
  • Involvement with mechanical and electrical design team at outset of project.
  • Continued involvement during duration of system build, development and installation/start-up.
  • Assist delegated project manager/production planner that is assigned to projects
  • Works cooperatively with Production Planner/Project manager to track and quote ECNs
  • Such other duties as may be assigned by the Employer from time to time

Senior Sales Account Manager

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of Sales Account Manager listed above.

Essential Sales Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve profitable sales target
  • Sales target will increase a minimum of 5% annually.
  • Establishes annual, personal sales plan.
  • Maintains relationships with customers providing multi-million dollar project awards.
  • Maintains relationships with client executive.
  • Is a demonstrated  leader within the sales team

Essential Quoting Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares technical presentations in support of quoted concepts for customer technical review.
Occupational Health and Safety Act Responsibilities:

Workers should be proactive about health and safety. That means that workers must not only comply with the law, the employer’s policies and workplace procedures, but they should also make suggestions to improve health and safety. Physical Demands:

This position requires constant sitting with occasional standing and walking. It requires occasional cervical flexion, the chin to chest movement. Maximum lifting weight can reach about 75lbs with the maximum carrying weights reaching close to 50lbs and the maximum pushing and pulling weights reaching 100-150lbs. Sales positions require constant forward and lateral reach. Constant handling, use of fingers and pinching are required. Working in this position requires a very strong ability to work alone and self-supervise as well as the ability to supervise others. It also requires the ability to handle attention to detail, tight deadlines, responsibility and accountability and the ability to multi-task.

Education Requirements and Experience:
  • Minimum, Graduate of Post-Secondary Education or Equivalent Specialized Experience
  • Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions
  • Minimum 3 years selling custom automated assembly and test equipment
  • Preference given to candidates with current sales experience selling automated systems in one or more of the following segments
      • Automotive
      • Medical Devices
      • Electric Vehicle
      • Electronic Modules/Assemblies
