The TidalPump device simulates a healthcare professional pumping a BVM (Bag Valve Mask) system. Designed in coordination with the Chief of ICU and Chief of ENT at St. Joseph’s hospital along with front line staff from RVH in Barrie, the TidalPump can replace or assist both medical professionals and veterinarians.
The TidalPump used a motor to actuate a bag press to deflate a manual resuscitation bag. This compression then forces air out of the bag and into the patient ventilation circuit. TidalPump is capable of changing both the breaths per minute the BVM system pumps and the volume that the BMV system outputs to a patient.
*Caution: Only trained Health Care Professionals should operate this device. Not intended for pediatric use.
