Staking and Inspect

Two seat components are manually loaded to a 4 station dial indexer. The parts are staked together at the second station and inspected at the third station using a camera and probes. The accepted parts are automatically unloaded at the fourth station.

Cosmetic Case Assembly

Lids for the case arrive at the cell on trays. A servo pick and place will remove the lids and places them to an indexing pin conveyor at a pitch equal to the dial table fixture tooling. Once on the dial table, the cases require radial orientation to locate the case for the top cap. The caps are bowl fed to an escapement where they are transferred to the inner dial fixture tooling. The caps will require radial orientation as well. Once the hot melt glue is dispensed on the case, the caps are placed onto the case and tamped in position. The completed assembly is then unloaded from the dial table.

Stand Alone Assembly

Hydraulic presses are used to assemble the components of this automotive device. After the press operations, additional components are loaded and fastened with DC electric screwdrivers. Part marking is completed on accepted parts.

Semi-Automatic Transfer System

Parts are loaded to a universal pallet capable of handling variations of the product size. On board clamping maintains the orientation of the parts through the manual assembly process. The pallets are hand passed from manual station to manual station. Upon completion of the part assembly, the clamps are retracted by the unload operator. The pallets return to the beginning of the assembly process on powered conveyor transfers.

Cast Aluminum Products

Palletized conveyor system with a robot that will remove a casting to clean out a groove for a seal gasket. Part is placed back onto conveyor and transfers to an operator inspection and gasket loading. After leaving the manual station, the robot will perform the final seating of the gasket to the groove in the part.

Head Lamp Assembly

Large palletized conveyor system processes left and right-hand parts. Assembly of a reflector is completed on an off-line dial table and feeds to the conveyor line. Automated bulb placement, dispensing, lens pressing and wiring harness stations complete the assembly of the headlamp. Automated testing, inspection with part marking completed at the end of the conveyor line.

Automotive Manifold Assembly

Molded manifold shells are manually loaded to a pallet. Assembly operations include spin-welding of sealing plugs, assembly of actuators and linkages to the manifold. Part is leak tested as well as performing a test to measure the response time.

Purge Valve

U-shaped pallet conveyor provides operator access to the middle of conveyor area. For low volume production, the operator can follow the pallet build around the loop to load station components. Assembly processes include pressing and staking of internal components, cover placement, electrical terminal insertion, testing and laser marking.

Sunroof Assembly and Test

Large palletized assembly line to process automotive panel. Components are preloaded to the pallets and assembled by operators on the line. After assembly, the part is tested for component presence and then powered up for noise testing in a sound booth. Finished parts are unloaded by a robot and placed into racks positioned on a rack handling conveyor. Large palletized assembly line to process automotive sunroofs. Components are preloaded to the pallets and assembled by operators on the line. After assembly, the part is tested for component presence and then powered up for function and noise testing in a sound booth. Finished parts are unloaded by a robot and placed into shipping racks positioned on a rack handling conveyor.

Fascia Punch Cells

Plastic fascias are oriented within fixture tooling. Hydraulic cylinders will punch holes in fascias that will support mounting brackets or bolts, license plate lamps and/or trim components. All the punch positions are adjustable to allow for realignment if required.

Robotic Deburring – Plastic

Twin robots with radially compliant deburring tools will remove flash from the cross member support located within the cell fixture tooling. A Vortex style evacuator is used to assist in the removal of the debris from the deburring operation.

Dial Table – Automotive Hinges

A 2-position rotary transfer machine (RTM)/dial table allows an operator to unload completed assemblies and load components to fixture tooling while the previously loaded components are processed. The fixtures are a quick change to facilitate other hinge styles. A set of overhead vision sensors will detect the presence of components prior to the dial indexing. The orbital riveter is mounted to a servo controlled cross slide and also has a pneumatic motion for bushing flaring.

Standalone Cell

Seat Frame assemblies have forming and riveting processes that are required prior to final assembly. The sub-assemblies are placed in position and each frame tube is formed with an Orbital riveter with a toggle lock back up device. The depth of the forming is controlled through sensing in the riveter. The second side of the tube is formed in a similar manner. After tube forming, the frame is manually transferred to the adjacent riveting station where a similar operation of riveting with toggle backup is completed.

Medical Device Assembly

6-station dial table allows for operator loading and unloading. Assembly stations pre-assemble vibratory bowl fed components that are eventually assembled into the product. Pull off force testing confirms the integrity of the assembly prior to the final placement of the outer component.

Notch and Clip Install

Two, two station dial tables allow for the manual loading of the base components while two robots notch and install clips.

Automotive Powertrain Component NVH Testing

A powertrain assembly is manually positioned at the test system and connected. The test system spins and brakes the component while NVH is evaluated with a Discom acoustical quality analysis system

Powertrain Component Leak Testing

A powertrain component is manually loaded to the test fixturing. Clamped under assembly conditions the component is pressurized and evaluated for leaks by analyzing the pressure decay.

Automotive Seating Function and NVH Testing

An automotive Seat subassembly is transferred into a sound control enclosure. The assembly is then powered and actuated through its motions and evaluated for travel times, current draw and objectionable noise.

Component Detection

Vision sensor in position to detect the presence of components within an assembly or subassembly. Robotic Guidance Fixed mounted vision system determines the orientation of automotive bushing for a robot to position accurately to tooling.
