Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties. Standard machine department equipment includes mills, lathe, drill press, surface grinder, inspection granite plate and accessories related to the machine process.

This position may require frequent walking, as well as the occasional crouching, squatting, and kneeling. Working in machining also requires constant cervical flexion, the chin to chest movement. Maximum lifting weight can reach about 50lbs, maximum carrying weight is about 20lbs, and the maximum pushing and pulling weights can reach 100-150lbs. Frequent forward reach with both arms is necessary as well as frequent grasping and handling. Working in this position requires a very strong ability to work alone and self-supervise as well as the ability to supervise others. It also requires the ability to handle attention to detail, tight deadlines, responsibility and accountability and the ability to multi-task.
