Financial Accountant
Position: Financial Accountant
Reports to: Finance and Resource Manager
General Purpose of the Financial Accountant Job:

The Financial Accountant supports the timely completion of financial department deliverables by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable

  • Daily posting of payments
  • Weekly invoicing
  • Weekly customer interactions regarding outstanding accounts
  • Weekly reporting to Finance and Resource Manager


Accounts Payable

  • Daily monitoring of transactions
  • Daily approval of expense reports
  • Weekly Payments to Suppliers
  • Monthly Government Remittances
  • Weekly reporting to Finance and Resource Manager



  • Weekly timecard monitoring and maintenance
  • Bi-weekly payroll with third party
  • Bi-weekly reporting to Finance and Resource Manager


Financial Reporting

  • Weekly Financial Summary
  • Weekly Cash flow Statements
  • Monthly Bank Reconciliations
  • Monthly Financial Statements
  • Year-end Financial Reporting Package for outside Accountants
  • Special reporting as required


Financial Controls

  • Daily monitoring of processes, policies and procedures and associated internal controls (access control, physical audits, standardized documentation, trial balances, regular reconciliations, approval authority)
Key Technical Skills and Knowledge:
  • Computer and MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • An in-depth understanding of Accounting Systems and Internal Controls
  • Minimum Degree in Business Administration: Accounting or Economics or Equivalent Specialized Experience
  • Minimum 5 Years’ Experience in Accounting field
  • Preference given to candidate pursuing CPA designation
  • Changing job conditions may require periodical skill upgrades

Health and Safety Responsibilities:
  • OHSA Responsibilities
    • ensure workers work in compliance with the OHSA and its regulations;
    • ensure workers use any equipment, protective devices or clothing the employer requires;
    • inform workers about any workplace health and safety hazards that the supervisor is aware of;
    • provide workers written instructions on measures and procedures to be followed for their own protection, if prescribed by regulation; and
    • Ensure every precaution reasonable in the circumstances to protect workers.
    • Participate in workplace inspections with JHSC and monitor safety within department
    • Create awareness about safety matters to all team members
Physical Demands:

This position requires constant sitting with occasional standing and walking. It requires frequent cervical flexion, the chin to chest movement. Maximum lifting and carrying weights reach close to 35lbs, with the maximum pushing and pulling weights reaching 50lbs. Administration positions require constant forward reach with both arms. Constant grasping, handling, and use of fingers are required. Working in this position requires a very strong ability to work alone and self-supervise as well as the ability to supervise others. It also requires the ability to handle attention to detail, tight deadlines, responsibility and accountability and the ability to multi-task.
