IT Specialist
Position: IT Specialist
Reports to: IT Group Leader
General Purpose of the Job:

To provide IT support to Innovative employees in conjunction with the IT Group Leader.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works cooperatively with customers, fellow employees, contractors, and management.
  • Communicates with management, fellow staff, and customers any project concerns, project status, and possible area solutions.
  • Provides IT setup and support to employees various equipment including: laptops, desktops, smartphones, tablets etc.
  • Manages hardware and software IT inventory
  • Assists in troubleshooting computer/network/server/software related issues in a Windows environment
  • Documents all software written as per Innovative Automation Inc. Standards
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness and independent thinking in troubleshooting various IT inquiries
  • Assists IT Group Leader with various IT projects and maintenance tasks as required
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to actively listen to ideas and concerns of others
  • Displays a high attention to detail while working in a virtualized server environment
  • Demonstrates a “team” approach to business and contributes to a positive workplace
  • Completes all assigned tasks in a neat and timely fashion
  • Occasional travel as required, globally
Occupational Health and Safety Act Responsibilities:

Workers should be proactive about health and safety. That means that workers must not only comply with the law, the employer’s policies and workplace procedures, but they should also make suggestions to improve health and safety. Workers may also bring health and safety concerns and suggestions directly to the Joint Health and Safety Representative (Members names are listed on the Health and Safety Bulletin Board).

Physical Demands:

This position may require frequent Sitting. Working in the Network Administration department also requires constant cervical flexion, the chin to chest movement. Maximum lifting weight can reach about 50lbs, maximum carrying weight is about 40lbs, and the maximum pushing and pulling weights can reach 100-150lbs. Constant forward reach with both arms is necessary as well as frequent grasping. Working in this position requires a very strong ability to work alone and self-supervise as well a strongly established ability to supervise others. It also requires the ability to handle attention to detail, tight deadlines, responsibility and accountability as well as the ability to multi-task.

Education Requirements and Experience:
  • Post-secondary degree in Information Technology or related
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Server, Active Directory and Group Policy
